Ruud did not qualify as favourite in the fight for the Roland Garros title

Seventh-ranked Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud has not declared himself a favorite in the battle for the 2024 French Open title. "I wouldn't include myself in the list of favorites for the French Open, simply because I don't want to put that kind of pressure on myself. However, I would definitely highlight Novak. I also think it's worth mentioning Jannik, Carlos and Rafa. If they're all healthy, I would name that quartet as the top contenders.

"It's hard to exclude any of them because Rafa has won here 14 times, and Jannik and Carlos have been the best representatives of the new generation in the last two years. So I think it's a good list of the top four players.

Ruud continued: “Of course, anything can happen at a Grand Slam tournament. There are always surprises and dark horses that emerge. But based on their current form and past success on clay, these four players have to be considered the favourites for Roland-Garros 2024.

The Norwegian also acknowledged the challenges of trying to win his first major title. “It won’t be easy, that’s for sure. The competition at the top of men’s tennis is fiercer than ever. But I’m going to give it my all. Winning a Grand Slam title has been a lifelong dream, and I’m more motivated than ever to try to make that dream a reality.”
